Css Globe RSS Feeds
During the existence of CSSG I have received some criticism about not providing full content and direct links on RSS feeds. As you may know CSSG started as a community news site, without any exclusive content. That means that having a content based on external links and providing those links in my RSS would mean skipping the site entirely in the process.
I guess a part of me didn’t want to loose actual visitors to this site, so that’s why I stuck with partial content feeds.
But lately I am re-thinking and re-inventing things on this site so I don’t believe that forcing people to come and actually visit this site is a good idea. Instead I would rather make them want to come and visit for one reason or another.
After all, if the user can’t have content served in a way he wants, he will not use it. It’s much better for people to read the content in their own favorite environments than not to read it at all.
As from beginning of the new year CSSG has regular exclusive content and with the community news post this site has quite a few things to offer. So, I decided to provide 3 types of feed so each of you may choose based on personal preferences:
- Article feed – contains full content of latest CSSG articles
- Community news feed – contains full content and direct links of latest CSSG community news updates
- Combined feed – contains full partial content of both CSSG articles and community news. The purpose of this feed would be to check out what the updates on CSSG are, and if interested visit and read the entire article.
The only question now is, which feed should become a “default” feed?
What I would like to hear from you, dear readers, is what do you think is the best option for default rss feed out of those 3 feeds that we have now? What are your feelings about providing full content or partial content feeds?
